    Hey Guys,
I was wondering if you could give advice,

I was thinking about buying a brand new car,
but was wondering what sort of money off could you hope to get,
if you are offering cash for it.

for example, if you are buying a car for €13,500
    buying it outright for cash,
how much could you hope to get off the total price?

    Thanks,
    James.

There is no written formula to how much you can hope to get off.

There are many factors in play - make and model, supply and demand, how much margin the dealer has to play with, type of sales target they have to reach and time of month/quarter your buying. All these will influence the discount level. You then have to take into account how good your bargaining skills are.

It depends on the brand, the model, the time of year.......

Some brands will offer a very limited cash discount, whereas others will do the opposite.

End of month or end of quarter might be good times to buy new.

What are you planning to buy?

I was looking at a dacia stepway and it had me thinking, instead of finance,
just get a loan and buy it outright.

Do some man maths, it might work out cheaper to PCP it over 3 years and then borrow a regular loan to pay off the balloon payment. Calculate who much you will pay in interest using both options. Just make sure you are aware of all the costs involved and you can afford it.

BTW the method of how you pay for the car has no bearing on the price you pay for the car or discount you get off it, either way the dealer will be paid. The only time that would change is if you have a trade-in.

Never enquired about that model Dacia, but there is no margin on a Duster and I think that is the Dacia model of pricing across the whole range so I doubt there is any discount to be had.
