Starting back into golf

After about a break of at least eight years Ive decided that im going to get back into golf. I have been to the range a few time and been talking to the guys in the shop to see about a few lessons and such but im not going to join club just yet as Im on the road most of the time so might not get to use it much . I was never a decent golfer but had started to manage to get my pars on par 3's and 4's when I stopped playing.
I do a nice bit if travelling around Ireland and often find myself at a loose end at certain time of the day. Ive decided to leave the clubs in the boot of the car as opposed to the shed as I may use them there. Would my best bet be to log into golf courses BRS system to book a tee time or just chance calling in to see if any tee times available. Any suggestion of how to get out on the course more??

You could use a website like golfnow.ie and search for deals in the area you're travelling to.

Depends where u are, down the country most courses you are as well off ring or just rock up, some of the smaller courses u will just be putting cash in a honesty box.

Lots of good 9 hole courses that might suit u better to fit a few holes in.

Thanks for the tips guys, its great to get a quick Par 3 course in.
Anywhere that would have a list of decent Pars 3, I thought I say a thread on it before but cant find it.
Also installed the Golf Now app. Do many people use it and would you often get paired with other golfers. Dont want to ruin people rounds and im only getting back into it.

Ment to ask also, if a courses BRS system seem like it has loaded of availability would that generally mean the course it quite or could there still be a lot of members playing?

Sorry if some of these questions seem silly....

Discover Ireland have a list of ptch & putt and par 3 courses, searchable by county here.

Go Golfing also have a list of golf courses in Ireland as well, but you'd have to trawl through them county by county to find the par threes.

Never used golf now in this country, but have used it and similar when abroad. Never been paired with anyone else even though have generally gone ut as a one or two ball. I'd say it really depends on how busy the timesheet is.

If the timesheet on BRS is empty, that generally means just that. You might get members out practicing without using the timesheet (probably not playing a full round), but sometimes certain time slots are not shown because they're reserved for club competitions or just specifically for members to play casual rounds.
