Anyone seen this yet? One of the most tense, disturbing films I've possible ever seen. Really good though, I wish I were eloquent enough to offer a better review, but I really recommend it!

Does it have highly sexualized content? A sort of ghosts having sex theme?

Thought this was excellent. Went in expecting a horror in the woods type film but got something else entirely.

The red door is creepy as hell.

I actually actively hated this film, for me it was a huge letdown.
I had read about its warm reception on the festival circuit and it was billed as a horror film, but horror it is most definitely not. I don't think it was particularly tense or disturbing either, but then again I've watched loads of disturbing films, so I might be desensitized.
Some of the characters' decisions were outright stupid and I was annoyed that the film left so many unresolved threads
(what was the dog barking at? What/who killed the dog? Who let the dog in at night? Which leads me to my biggest bugbear: WHAT comes at night? The fear? The son’s night terrors? Ugh.
It’s merely a mediocre thriller with a mildly claustrophobic setting.

I suppose horror is subjective like indeed humour which explains why ppl would state wildly differing experiences of any movie.

Mark Kermode just said it's terrific on his Film Review show. A creepy rather than a horror film. Must check it out.

must say I was a bit disappointed with it overall and I agree with Space Dog's comments. I thought the soundtrack was very good however, very appropriate.

This was one of my favourite films of the year so far. But I agree about the trailer, completely misleading which suggests they didn't have confidence in the film's success.

I only wish horror film makers took note from this film to see how you create tension, paranoia and dread without having to resort to cheap jump scares.

Having just watched it, I really liked it.

Horror film about mysterious viruses and plagues are a dime a dozen and we nearly always get a full explanation, a cure, or some sort of outcome.

This just puts you right in the characters shoes - you have no idea what happened or what the bigger picture was. You know there's something to be scared of, but you're not sure what it is.

I think it was done very well. And not a jump scare in sight.

I thought it was quite good and a masterclass in tension building. Didn't read any reviews prior to watching it - didn't even read a synopsis so hadn't a clue what it was about, could see that being a fine line between positive and negative for some people. Doesn't outstay it's welcome either with a fairly lean run time.

    What cinema is this on.

Just watched. Gave me the creeps like nothing I've seen since The Road. And like The Road good use of music. I'd watch Joel Edgerton in anything I think he's great. 9 out of 10 creeps.

Chris Stuckmann discusses It Comes at Night, and how the marketing campaign may be the cause of its lukewarm reaction from general audiences.

I liked it, but as others have said it wasn't a horror, more a psychological thriller. I would have liked an answer as to who opened the red door though.

I Just watched it tonight. It's well directed, good story, has an excellent score and great acting, that being said, what the actual f**k comes at night?

I get the film pushes the audience to use our imagination, which is more horrifying than any monsters or diseases you can put on screen, less is more and all that..., brilliant.... but the f**king thing is called "It Comes at Night", so forgive me for thinking that something... ANYTHING.... might come at night. Throw me a friggen bone here, or just change the name of the fecking movie.

Other than that, I loved it.

'It' presumably refers to paranoia, tension etc. but understandable that some people were probably expecting a monster or something like that.

Good film, possibly over-praised in the more enthusiastic reviews and clearly not understood that well by others, or mis-marketed perhaps?

Those things didn't necessarily come at night. The name is so misleading, it's completely unrelated to the film.

Imagine watching Ghostbuster, and they didn't bust no ghosts. or if Snakes on a Plane, had no snakes. how could Samuel L. Jackson get the motherf**king snakes off the motherf**king plane, if there was no snakes in film? tell me that? tell me how its possible?

I think "it comes at night" may have something to do with the kid's bad dreams/terrors. Iirc, similar music was playing during a dream and when his bad dreams became a reality - everyone in family infected...i could be wrong though. This could be a 'bring your own meaning' film.

Also what it could have been would have been ultimately disappointing.

Yep. I think you are spot on with this.
    "It" = Nightmares,

The kid experiences bad dreams which come at night, after he has a bad dream,
he wakes up, and roams the house, he listens through the walls, and then gossips to his parents about what he sees and hears, causing tension and paranoia between the two families.

Man, this film really sits with you after you see it.
