If the Goverment brings in refunding for those who paid their Water Charges, how will people be contacted/paid if they have moved from the house to somewhere else?  Even out of Ireland?

    Hi toadeo,

    Thank you for your message.

Currently, the decision regarding future domestic charges and the refund of water charges is being reviewed by the Government and we will notify customers of any changes in government policy.

In the meantime, if you have any further queries, please let us know.

    Kind regards,
    Louise

The OP's question hasn't been answered. Changes in government policy are widely publicised, so that is not the issue being highlighted.

How exactly will Irish Water issue refunds to customers who have moved/emigrated, or even who have closed bank accounts that they originally used to pay water charges?

In other words how will these people get their money back & how will you contact them, bearing in mind that they have moved/emigrated?

    Hi Cushie Butterfield,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

As the Government has not announced exact plans regarding refund policy, we are unable to provide specific details in relation to your query.
However, as soon as these have been finalised and we have been updated we will notify customers.

    Kind regards,
    Aaron

By what means will you notify customers who have moved/emigrated?

    Hi Cushie Butterfield,

    Thanks for your message.

Irish Water has noted the announcement by government that Water Charge refunds will be issued in the Autumn and is working to ensure that this can be achieved as efficiently and accurately as possible.

Irish Water's primary concern is that the payment of refunds is as straightforward as possible from a customer point of view and that those who made a payment to Irish Water are refunded with a minimum of delay, once Government has passed the legislation and provided the funding needed to allow for refunds.

I hope you find this information helpful.

    Kind regards,
    Micheal
