how in the name of Jayzus do I remove it from the tank?
It's starving of fuel every hour or so and I'm happy it's clogged filters. I'm confident enough changing the two filters and bleeding, but I need to change the little plastic gauze filter on the tap. Do I disconnect the fuel line running off to the other side and then just turn the whole unit anti clockwise? Loads about the other filters on YouTube but can't find anything on the tap. All advice gratefully received, thanks.

The whole thing turns, disconnect the pipe and unscrew.. strainer should be on the top of the tap. I cursed it for a long time but in fact i think it is a good job as it makes me clean out the tank on a regular basis too..
Bear in mind the tank will let all the diesel in it out of it.. so siphon out the bulk first..

The joys of machinery. This is what came out. Just goes to show, it does it's job!

Changed the filters, bled her all the way through and then promptly broke the upper bleed valve on the injector with a bit left in. After much colourful language i got it out and replaced it with a bit taken off a 35x. Finally she's ticking over sweetly. Thanks lar.

I reckon I'm going to have to change that plastic filter prior to the next 3 or 4 fills to completely clear the dirt. Very satisfying job though, and now I've done it once it should be quicker the next time.

I took off the tank off the 35 the last time and did the following.
Remove the fuel tank and ensure that all fuel has been removed from the tank. Pour a few gallons of water and a scrubbing material, such as crumbs of safety glass or clean gravel, into the tank. Add liquid soap with petroleum-cutting properties, such as Dawn, Ajax or Palmolive, and swish the mixture around in the tank as vigorously as possible.

Clean the dirty filter and you can put it back in again the next time you have to change it.
