What do people make of this? Find it pretty disturbing and disgusting to be honest. He claims he is making some subversive social commentary, allegedly it is
"ethical boundary smashing work, which fuses homelessness, privacy invasion, inequality, and reality TV, with present day cultural decadence and interactive conceptual art."

Seems to me he is just lining his own pockets by exploiting the vulnerable. Pretty vile, and they are being sold for 25k each! Christ some people have way too much money.

More of this modern "art" nonsense, show it to liberal tossers you think it has deep "meaning" and that if you don't like it, it's because you are not sophisticated enough to "get it" - piss off.

I would like to think just maybe he would be donating a lot of the proceeds to the men and women he is tagging and selling but sure in this day and age maybe not.

It's OK, the homeless people have consented. He didn't just wander around attaching trackers to people.

Of course the "artist" is the one laughing at the end of the day; no suggestion that any proceeds will go to charity. Nope, straight into his pocket.

Since some idiot crapped in a tin and pronounced it " Art ", only an imbecile could have any interest in following it.

Well he probably bunged them a 100 quid or something. It's pure exploitation of the most vulnerable in society and is pretty disgusting from a moral/ethical standpoint.

His rationale is that he has "empowered" them by providing them with technology and educating them on the use of social media. He agrees that it's exploitation; he argues that both the homeless person and the person paying to track them are being exploited. Which is true.

I've no doubt that the guy is probably a horrible cvnt, an insufferable penis if you ever had to deal with him in real life.

But he has at least gotten consent. Which is something.

More a case of "too lazy to try to get it" - which your post demonstrates nicely.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    Jesus, disturbing level of exploitation.

This could be an episode of Black Mirror.

Yes, but you have to return them to their natural habitat afterwards.

His last "work" was worse tbh. Having Ugandan villagers change their name in order to get aid?!

brilliant idea. I wish I had thought of it. Just a couple of questions - who is 'buying' them and what do they get for their money?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,271 ✭✭✭annascott

You get to look down at people who don't 'get' post-modern/conceptual art.
