Dangerous checkpoint on Bloomfield Interchange - Cork

I'm all for check points but I can't believe the stupidity of those involved in setting up the one at the Bloomfield Interchange in Cork which I went through on the way home this evening.

For anybody in Cork that knows the Bloomfield Interchange if you are heading east towards the JLT and take the slip for Ringaskiddy/Douglas. This sliproad has quite a tight curve. The last thing you expect coming around it after exiting the dual carraige way is a line of cars stopped dead which you can't see until last minute due to Checkpoint there.

I can't believe with all the RSA crap about road safety and then they can stand behind this carry on. They will be lucky if they don't cause an accident.

I just had to get it off my chest as I couldn't get over the stupidity of what I saw. I'm More annoyed at myself for not pointing it out to the officer involved that it's a dangerous location to do it. Even 200ft further would be a lot safer once you are back in the straight but no.

Iv passed through check points at the top of the off ramp on the motorway before. Dangerous to be fair.

Wouldn't want to live in the 6 counties then ,if u think that's dangerous, security forces stop motors around sharp bends etc, anywhere in fact

But we are not in the Six Counties. Therefore there is absolutely no need for checkpoints which put peoples lives in danger.

Agreed. In my opinion, even when there is a speed check there it's dangerous.

Cars need to change lanes on that small stretch of road and if everyone is crawling along at the same speed there is no hope of of being able to do that. Nice spot for them to collect some money.

Same thing there about 6 weeks ago & an Alfa buried into the crash barrier presumably where the'd swerved to avoid the stationary traffic. Madness
