Hyundai i20 A/C temperature selection issue

    Hi guys,

    I figured someone here might have an idea / suggestion for this. I recently bought a Hyundai i20 classic 2009. One of the issues I knew it had when I bought it was that the ryostat wasn't working (i.e. the only speed the blower would work on was 4).

    Today I noticed that there is another issue which may or may not be connected. Basically, if I leave the temperature selector on full cold, everything is fine and it works fine. If I turn it 2 or 3 clicks towards hot however, it suddenly switches to full heat. Turning it back left won't revert it back to cold air. Also, the dial won't turn all the way to 100% hot, it gets caught at about 80% (the air still seems to be the same regardless of what the dial says).

    I currently have the radio out as it's getting replaced so with the dash open, I can see exactly what's happening. The wire that's attached to the back of the temperature selector seems like it's not seated correctly or something. Once it pops out of place, I need to push it back inwards on the left side, then the air goes back to cold. It stays that way until I move the selection dial again.

    Has anyone seen / experienced this before? Could it be as simple as getting the cable resit or could it be something more? Again, I have no idea if the ryostat issue is connected or if they're completely separate.

    Sounds like the heater box has been out of the car. Ie dash out. Most likely for a leaking evaporator (known hyundai issue)
    Someone has put it back together incorrectly.
    The rheostat (fan speed resistor)may either be shorted or possibly not connected. ( it may or may not run with it unplugged on this model)
    Thats my guess
