Help? sim & router/ broadband deals?

Dunno if this is the right place to post-

I'm currently in a rural area in Monaghan with eircom unlimited broadband and it is just awful- I mean awful. So slow, such a lag, a video lasting 20 seconds will literally take 3/4 minutes to load!!

I've heard people talk about putting a sim into a router and getting great internet, but to be honest I'm not sure how that works? How do I choose a router? or how do I know what sim would work best? is it possible to get unlimited internet for something that's not crazily priced? so confused by it all!

Any help would be really appreciated! (been trying to load the 3 "coverage checker" this past 10 minutes- still no joy) :(:(

I wrote a blog post outlining how to go about this. I don't want to advertise my site, so I'll place the link in a code snippet.
