A story we've seen before, pretty weak dialogue, but it could be good, right? :)
An MIT grad student and a tech superstar bring a low-level Pentagon official a staggering discovery that an asteroid is just six months away from colliding with Earth.

A 10 episode event series. Starts Wednesday in the States.

I'm going to give it a chance.

Some of the actors did a decent job in other TV shows, but this casting is all over the place. I liked Charlie Rowe in Red Band Society (canceled way too soon) and Ian Doyle did a good job in Murder in the First.

The story line is as you said things we have seen before thrown together and some of the dialogue in the trailer did not make sense, but it fills a void of other conspiracy whos this summer.

Having watched the first episode I'm not sure about it yet.

It has loads of cheesy, predictable and done before story lines (including very obvious work place romance).

I think I'm going to give it another episode to see if there is character development going on but if they stay as they are, than this is not going to be interesting at all.

I'll give it another episode myself but it's bad.

I'm hoping it may go the very bad it's good route.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I've heard it has no personality - everyone is playing it very straight and it's not fun. Hopefully it lightens up as it goes on.

I'll watch the first one later tonight and see what it's all about.

It's pretty stupid. The Americans, and only the Americans can see this asteroid and rather than get the entire world involved to come up with a solution they get one young lad and his university professor to come up with the solution on their own.

It seems all too common for American shows to propose that any problem can only have one person that's smart enough to solve it. Maybe it's just down to them not wanting to cast more than a few people for their shows but in this show there's no background at all, it's literally a handful of people acting like their trying to take it seriously but couldn't be arsed really and emptiness behind them.

watched the first 3 episodes of this and didnt find it as bad as others seem to have. Its only episodes so i'll stick it out to see what happens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

It's definitely watchable. I'll stick it out at this stage. Hopefully it's a complete story.

Still enjoying this. It has turned into a bonkers neo-coldwar story.

The fun thing is that it's completely unpredictable. With 3 episodes left, anything could happen.

Oh, and John Noble makes any show 5 times better. :)

One episode to go and the s**t is about to hit the fan. Great twist in the middle that I didn't see coming (well done, writers).
It'll be interesting to see how they end the show (I can't see it ending any other way than
the earth smashed to bits in Salvation's rear view mirror
) but we'll have to wait and see.

Special mention for the world's worst hitman who shoots his target in the shoulder and walks away.

've been watching and I love it - it's like easy singles so cheesy.
It's so predictable too - and really the sec of defense who knows an asteroid is coming only finds out about working intact nuclear bunkers now? So funny
Predictions: look away now if u don't want to know. Dun dun dun

I'm predicting that darius is going to need a medical procedure involvng bodily fluid of a near relative like a brother or child.......
But he doesn't have any and while he lays in a dangerous coma, evil uncle throws evil eyes at tess & says doesn't he now? She is surprised he knows but he just shrugs and says in am evil uncle
She is apologetic & explains she was heartbroken when he left she has no idea where the son is, last she saw a v kind looking African American nurse was tenderly carrying him into the hospital ...
Jillian, who is in the room for some convoluted reason, looks surprised and runs out.......
Oh and Dylan is alive and zoe is Nero

Bring on series 2 noting like some cheese to keep us entertained

For what it's worth, this was always billed as a once off event series. I don't think there will be a second season (so absolutely anything can happen in the finale).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,638 ✭✭✭✭ohnonotgmail

i cant see how they can wrap this up in the last episode. The next episode is the last one in the season, right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Low budget open ended bull**** of the highest order.

If you bill something as a once off event series, give us a God damn ending. Don't kowtow to network execs who dangle a second season carrot in front of your face.

    Assholes.

    Renewed for a second season.

    Added to Netflix now.

For those who stuck with it for season 1, Season 2 starts Monday night in the States.

Good start - they're keeping it going anyway. :)

I'd actually forgotten all about evil uncle and tess lol
    It's the craziest show
    Where is graces daughter?
Bombs go off and never a mention again
It's like a 'you write the next chapter book' except it's the actors making **** up and they just run with
So bad so very very bad
    Love it
    Can't wait for next week

Is the second Season any good.

Didn't spot this been available till now.

8 Episode in, maybe worth a binge in September?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,534 ✭✭✭sioda

It's awful up there with last ship for me in its terribleness but highly entertaining time killer it's one that does work better as a binge tbh. can't stop watching thus perfect summer season mind off filler.

I think s2 was better than s1. It'll have you screaming at the screen re one particular side story line, but an easy watch.

Worst pretend to be someone else in the history of tv in this episode.

In fairness, don't think it was meant to be a Ta Dah! moment.

Decent episode, but it might have been better if they didn't use Sacha Baron Cohen's makeup artist. That disguise shouldn't have fooled anybody.

Last few minutes of the latest episode we're just awful TV.

That aside not a bad episode must be very handy having Tanz hq within the white House walls either that or he's hiding a star trek transporter somewhere

I'm still hate watching it's so bad it's hilarious
I really can't imagine what they'll do next
Still betting Liam is the son of darius and tess and evil uncle knows it, and he can cure whatever disease darius has
Oh and Harris's son is not dead, big reveal coming, I bet

Contender for shark jumper of the year.
Gone from "So bad it's good" to "So bad it's just really f**king bad".

    1. Hippie cult leader and Uncle Tanz just steal the space ship and leave, never to be heard from again.

    2. They had been tracking this asteroid for months - a monster chunk of rock that was going to destroy the earth. No wait, it's not an asteroid (and it's not even that big).

    3. No chance we'll get a third season after that.

    Sigh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Haha what a stupid fcuking rushed ending.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,863 ✭✭✭✭fritzelly

I liked this show - don't have to think too much about whats going on.
The finale kinda ties in with the series title (if you think about it) but don't see where it can go now by introducing maybe aliens (or something).
A summer series that was never gonna get big ratings and likely dropped unless there's some scope for it on All Access. Can't cost that much to make

    Rofl
    The ending!
    Omg the worst show ever?

Sick to death of Zombie stuff, apocalyptic stuff and this meteor that's gonna destroy the world stuff. Between this and comic book guff it's understandable why so many idiots are watching TV programmes that are basically people watching other people watching TV.
