Broadband with very few TV stations package?

I watch very little tv so don't want many channels. The other half would be happy with just the Irish channels and BBC/C4. She'd be interested in getting Netflix.

I'm looking at Virgin Media's €49 per month for 12 months package. It has 50 tv channels, which is at least 48 channels more than I had growing up. The contract states "All Broadband, TV and telephony products are subject to a 12 month contract, unless otherwise stated."

"Price per month: €49. €85 After 12 months". My first question is if we notify them after 11 months that we intend to cancel, can we avoid the €85 per month charge after 12 months, or does this introductory 12-month contract only apply if you commit to the €85 per month fee after 12 months? (€49 is as much as I'm willing to part with for what I want)

My second question, given the above preferences for very few tv channels and reliable, fast internet, what are our options aside from Virgin Media that will keep costs down and avoid inflicting necessary flicks through a whole heap of reality tv stuff and commercial sport in order to get to the few channels I might be interested in? Thanks.

That deal is an 18mo contract, id be 99% sure of that. So you'd pay 6mo of 85/pm.

Sounds like saorview is plenty for you, one time cost of sonewhere around 100-150 but no subscription. Then get a broadband only deal.

Get the sky + broadband package. They have a 12 month contract offer.

They install the dish, give you a sky box and then in 11 months ring them, give them 1 month cancellation notice for the tv and once it's cancelled you'll still have all the free channels.

Add saorview and you have tons of choice and no bill except for broadband and netflix.

No you don't. With sky Q they take the equipment back when you cancel and a FTA box won't work on the sky Q lnb.

So that's why they've been pushing skyQ!

Then for op - standard free to air satellite / saorview combo with a one off installation fee of about €300 and broadband only package from pure telecom (44 / month)
