My cm 167 was noisy for years and lately I have recognised that it kinda was starting a bit strange but took no notice. But today when I turned it on there is no movement of the disks when I turned on the pto. What is gone can anyone help.

Are the belts OK and turning when pto on?

The belts seem tight but it happened tonight but. When I turned it on the disks turned for a minute and then stopped turning and the belts were still spinning. What does it look like to be

The roll pin on the pulley by the gear box has sheared. Line it up, drive out broken roll pin and replace with a new one.
We had a 167 years ago, same thing happened!

White clover thanks for that I'll check that in the morning. Can I ask for years she has been really noisy nearly deafing when we're topping. I never remember my father changing oil in her is that to do with it. Or is it a bearing or something??

They are noisy, we opened the bed on our one after only cutting one field! We thought there was bearings or something major wrong with it. Turned out everything inside was perfect. Put it back together and mowed away for 7 or 8 years after that. Only an odd top bearing went on it. You should change the oil in the gearbox and bed every year.

The casing on the bed can crack from flexing near where the gearbox bolts on. We have a CM2400 now, these have a strengthening bar bolted along the length of the bed that prevents the flexing.
