dead racing pigeon

So my housemate went out on the balcony tonight (top floor wrap around balcony) and in the wall there is a carcas of a racing pigeon. Wings still intact but the rest is bones.... questions are... how the hell did it end on on the outter wall?? Do other birds way birds? and also more importantly... can it be identified by…
