    Hi everyone,

A mechanic did an inspection on my friends car and the head gasket is gone and theirs an oil leak.

The quite he got seemed a bit much so we are just checking if any mechanics can give us a ball park figure they think it would cost.

Also if we bought parts and did the Labour ourselves would it be difficult?

    Thanks

    I have a 2006 Citroen c4 . 1.4 petrol and when I bought it 2 years ago it had a blown head gasket .

    I was charged 670

    Head gasket
    Skimmed
    Waterpump
    Timing belt.
    Labour .

I was well gutted at time but 2 years on touch wood she's driving great and no issues . been over to UK twice , motorway driving .

Edit. I was a bit lucky , day after I got car back a guy pulled out in front of me and did 700 Quid's damage , he paid up no problem . car was like new before this and I fixed it up 90% myself for 15 euro.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah we hadn't heard any negative stories after it was done but the price was around your to just change the gasket and fix the leak. But maybe they meant all of the above.

Might just be worth the money if it lasts ye know
