Jobseeker's Allowance when moving back to Ireland

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light for on whether I'll qualify for Jobseeker's Allowance. I was working part time and receiving jobseekers for the weeks I worked three days or less. I moved to Canada in october last year but am moving back in December this year. My old job is happy to take me back, again part time as they just don't have full time contracts available, and I'm wondering if I can go back to my old situation.
Everything will be basically the same, will be living in the same place that I was, working in the same job with similar hours, so I'm wondering if getting the Jobseeker's Allowance back will be straightforward since I will be going straight back to my old job?I know that moving back in December is a busy period for offices as it's so close to Christmas but has anyone recently applied for it again and maybe has any idea how long it took before they got it? Obviously need to get money coming in as soon as I can once I get back.
If anyone has any info I'd be really appreciative.

You may have to satisfy habitual resedence, even if your do, You have to suffer a loss of hours to get JSA for the days you don't work, so if you go in as part time, then you may not get the JSA payment.

Damn, that's frustrating since I'd be going back to the same situation as before. I mean , I know there's no full time work out there.
If it's means tested then I'm hoping I would get it.

Its possible that if you have enough contributions you will qualify for casual jobseekers benefit which is not means tested. You will have been out of the country and not working her for over 12 months and will be coming back from Canada...you may have to satisfy habitual residence but you wont have to satisfy substantial loss of employment for casual jobseekers.

Isnt there a top up you can apply for rather than JSA? I think you do the same thing, let them know what hours your working. Or come back & sign up straight away for JSA but dont tell them you have a job, tell them a week or 2 later that you have found one

You don't need to suffer a loss for Jsa. Your thinking of jb.

Op you will probably need to satisfy hrc again but that shouldn't be difficult.

Thanks! I always get confused between the benefit and the allowance

I can't respond directly to comments on app but basically no don't start work and not tell them. Your dates of employment are registered. If you don't have an entitlement and it's discovered later (revenue issue forms called coe1 for jobseekers and workers so it will come to light after about 2/3 weeks) you will be disallowed. You either have an entitlement or you don't.

I also cant understand why someone would encourage someone else to commit fraud. That your tax that's being wasted at the end of day. People bitch on one hand about road tax, water charges and tv licences and then encourage things like this ....

I'm not looking to cheat anything. Just seeing if I can go back to the situation I was in previously, and what I would need to fill out/prove, to get the same benefits since my circumstances will be exactly the same as they were before.

No I understand that I wasn't directing the post to you asking questions more to the other posters advising you to commit fraud. You aren't doing anything wrong by just asking questions.
