Damp proof foil

I am using damp proof foil on a bedroom wall that I have cleaned & treated, I will also b putting in proper ventilation in the room, hopefully this will prevent the mould from reappearing. My question is this damp proof foil product has to be pasted to the wall with foil faced outwards into room, I was hoping to paint as a finished decorative coat, as you cannot paint directly onto foil, it was suggested to me that I put a lining paper on, what adhesive can I use to bond a lining paper to foil?? Any suggestions would b appreciated. Thanks

Okay, have you bought the foil, as you might gather I may not be a fan of the solution you have adopted but if you have bought the stuff and its non returnable them we can play on.
So the more intel the better!

Personally I'd sort the ventilation and heating and then see has the damp been sorted.
WhatIs the source of the damp ?? Is it condensation from poor ventilation or something else ??

Yes poor ventilation was the problem, new vents have been installed & existing mould has been cleaned off & painted with a good mould resistant paint.

    I'd wait and see then.
If the issue has been truly sorted then there would be no need for further work. If however the work to date isn't fixing the problem then installing a waterproof layer will not help, the condensation is within the room and would be within the foil envelope and so still happen.
