hi, my great grand father worked on the railways in Ireland up to the time of his death in 1929. His marriage records and death record state he was a signalman and railway porter at various times during his life.

Is there such a thing as a file on him in the railways held by archives of Irish Rail? If there is, can the general public look at them/get copies. Answers greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, we've had a few threads on this in the past.

Have a look at this one.
