How much fuel does an idling car use ?

    My radio demands ignition on

    If I sit for 5 mins - how much fuel am I using ? Approx ? Same as if driving on a motorway ?

    I would imagine it depends on the engine but my golf mk 7 1.4 TSI uses 0.9l per hour idling (iirc) thus no where need motorway usage.

    Most modern cars show consumption. Mine is 0.7 to 0.9L per hour.

    Doesn't most modern cars have Start/Stop technology now?

    It would really depend on the car!

    0.6 l/hour for a ford 1.5 (with stop start disabled )
