Tipp Fm Flag Show Tipp Today

As a person living in Clonmel I am prone to listen to my local radio station Tipp Fm. For the last number of days there was a guest presenter on Tipp Today which would be the flagship show for the station and I must say watching paint dry would be more fun.

The presenter in question has been stumbling all over the place, there has been no tough questions put to his guests and it makes for awful listener ship to the station.

I for one have now turned off and I am starting to think that the station is failing.

I remember a time when the station was the most listened to in the county. Their is other stations else where that are smaller and produce better presenters than is on offer at present with Tipp Fm. I for one will be turning off till the original host is back on Tipp Today

Do you think Tipp Fm has lost their listener ship in recent years 1 vote

I heard him also this week and yes, he's poor whoever he is.

However, I would say that the station in general sounds a lot better to me since that new PD came from Q102, Harrington is his name, I think.

The music during the day is more coherent. He has cured many of the jocks of their verbals, much tighter and to the point links, less rambling.

Website seems much better and imaging is also improved.

Those are my impressions for what it's worth.

IF they could just find a credible person for the mid-morning talk show, all would be well. I think Ronan Quirke, who does an excellent Monday night sports hour, is the best option.

Has he done any presenting on Tipp?

    Harrington is a good presenter.
I must say the overall standard of their website is good
In regards programmes a lot has been taken away and hours changed.

The PD I think should engage more with the public and hold brain storming sessions to see what the public would like. I for one would love to attend. Other than that I found that the Hospital Radio is great for music

If you could attend such a meeting, what ideas would you put forward? The hospital radio should change to a community starion, because I think Tipp Fm only cater for a certain age group..There are older listeners that would probably like something different;and are not in the age bracket, that Tipp FM aim at....How far outside the town of Clonmel, can the hospital radio be picked up..I can hear it in the car at home, but not on the radio inside the house...

Hospital Radio can be got within 10 miles or on the net wwe.Clonmelhr.org

    Also tunein app for phones.

    In regards Tipp fm
    - I would bring Aidan Mac back to breakfast
-change Tipp today back to three hours
-Bring Shades of green from 10pm to 9pm
    - Would look to have an night time host from 2am to 6am

Why would you bring Aiden Mac back?

Only person they'd get for that would be an unpaid intern. Not a hope they'd pay someone to do 2am to 6am!

I remember as a kid they were the no. 1 station in Tipp, they have an impressive (unbroken?) record for a small regional station.

I was never a huge fan of Fran Curry though. I used to like Seamus Martin and the Maria (?) woman who replaced him occasionally, but I don't tune in very often these days. It doesn't strike me as Fran Curry's natural fit.

What year were you a kid?..what presenters did they have then that made them No.1 ?

I was born in 1986 and would have been listening to the radio fairly heavily from about 1998 onwards. I distinctly remember Tipp FM being No.1 in Tipp back then.

Seamus Martin was definitely around in 1998, presenting Tipp Today, as was Fran Curry (doing musical output including outside broadcasts), and a whole heap of DJ's with an interest with a showbands background. But Tipp FM has always had a strong current affairs output that is relevant to the local population, and I believe that has always been a core strentgh.

Also, they've always been good at innovative marketing techniques (car number-plate lottery), aggressive use of bumper stickers, to radio bingo!

Well, that and the obituaries, of course :pac:

And it being mandatory to use the word Tipp in every sentence, under penalty of P45.
