My dog needs to see a vet who specialises or has in depth experience in dealing with eye problems asap. Preferably in the Cork area. Recommendations here or through pm would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Natasha in Crescent vets limerick would probably be one of the top eye vets in the country. A bit of a trip but well worth it!

Sorry, its not Cork, but Michael Woods, Primrose Hill Vet Clinic in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin is fantastic, I travel from Sligo with my dogs to see him.

Thanks for the replies lads. What kind of money would a consultation be in cresent vets? Money is a bit tight at the moment and having to get a referral from your own vet first is a pain even though it does make sense. I have already been to a vet where he said surgery would be too expensive and may not work. We got drops but I am certain the dogs sight is gone in one eye. I didnt think it would happen this fast. I think the vet mentioned glaucoma. I can't have the poor dog lose the rest of her sight.

+ 1 for this guy. He did an eye op on our Cocker who had a serious issue.

We went to him too for cataracts!

Mike Woods did cataract surgery successfully on both of my dogs eyes and provided great aftercare. Would highly recommend him

What kind of money are we talking about, bringing a dog to Michael? We have pet insurance, just don't want a shock if it's not covered.

Can’t remember the breakdown but each eye was done in 2 separate policies as they would been over €4k for cataract op and pre/post care.
Allianz pay him directly though....you only need to pay the excess to mike.

She has an ulcer in her eye. No need to go to Michael yet. Poor girl won't eat her food now. I had to boil chicken fillets for her yesterday and hand feed her little bites.

So sorry to bump this thread, but my cat had eye graft for a very deep corneal ulcer just before Christmas.

It would appear that the graft has stabilised, and I think we saved the eye. Just wondering if she might eventually have even partial vision restored? What is the experience of others. I would go to the ends of the earth for this cat, she is a sweetheart!

Mike and his team are just amazing.
