I started my tco contract last week and first things first I don't get paid till next week so 3 weeks without anything coming in. But I'm even worried with the amount of tax I'm going to pay. I was on a CE scheme and left it to do this. My contract is only 8 weeks where as my CE would have lasted till end of September. My 2 children (1 in primary) are now going to be in creche full time and adding up all my expenses I'm actually going to be down more money than what i was getting on scheme and working double hours. I don't mind the hours our the work but it would be different it was PERMANENT. I taught the contracts were longer before I applied. I'm seriously considering about not continuing the tco and trying to get back to scheme. At least my kids wi'll be happier and I don't be out of pocket. I need opinions PLEASE

I don't know anything about the CE schemes, but there does seem to be a bit of confusion around the TCO thread regarding the length of contract/chances of permanency.
They're just temporary jobs, and you don't know how long your contract will be for until you get the offer.
It seems to make more sense for you to continue with the CE scheme from what you've posted.

Yeah it will be 3 weeks before you get any payment and then it could be another few weeks before they get your correct tax rate sorted - it's the same for all new starters unfortunately

With TCO contracts you can get anywhere from an 8 week to possibly a year -,but most important you won't be made permanent no matter how good you are - there are rare exceptions - but for majority once contract over that's it job gone -

Maybe you could use the TCO as a springboard to get another job - like they say easier to get a new job when in one already -

You have to be on unemployment for a year without a break in the payment to qualify for CE. By accepting the the TCO contract you have taken yourself out of eligibility for CE. As far as I know you won't be able to get back on the scheme. I know someone who was on CE with a mens shed and left for a job they only stuck at a few weeks. The shed tried everything to get him back but he was no longer eligible and the DSP just said no.
