    Hi All,

I'm thinking of investing in a mobile pen for cattle. Our farm is split in many divisions, something like this would be really handy and save time. So far the only option I've found is :
    https://www.donedeal.ie/dairycattle-for-sale/roco-ezie-pen/15261280

Has anyone any experience with this or any suggestions for similar ?
Its pricey enough but qualifies for TAMS I'm told.

I was looking at something similar. I rang connacht agri and you can get ten foot gates with a pin holding them together. Something like 1100 euro for twenty x forty. No crush or no fancy bits. This is land that I taken and want to graze before Christmas.

I can live without the crush but would need to move it regularly - approx every 4 weeks.
1100 seems reasonable - I reckon you would need 12 10 ft gates for 40 x 20. Big saving over the Ezepen, but at a loss of convenience.
Did you see them in the flesh? How sturdy are they ?

Not in the flesh just rang. That was after claiming vat back I think. They have to be at 90degrees to stand up. Over five foot in height. I'd say there handy enough for using a couple of times a year.

Don't think you can claim vat 58 on a "mobile" crush.

Any opinions on best company to supply mobile cattle penning inc cattle crush , I would be going the young farmer tams route but reckon it'd be handy for rented land and if I get 60% off price of good stuff then go for the best !

In the end I got approved for tams but the department costing was much lower than actual cost per metre for the pen, which came to a total costing of 2200 for the pen in the Donedeal ad in my first post. Actual cost was 4300. Tams grant was 900, it's a great pen but I couldn't justify 3400 euro investment.
In the end I went with Connacht agri, 1300 euro for pen only. 20x16ft. It's a bit of work to move it but it's very solid and sturdy. I had 12 year and a half heifers in it and it was solid as a rock.

I collected it myself. Found them very helpful also, stayed open after 6pm on the evening that I collected. I'll be dealing with them again...

Forgot to say that price also included one 10 ft dividing gate, handy when more than one trailer load in the pen..

So you didn't get the crush in the end ? Can you be approved for more linear meters and then get reference cost for a smaller pen ? Were you 60 or 40%?

I doubt he bothered with the grant in the end. I think €2200 was the min spend to claim grant. Perhaps I'm wrong. But I think when I applied in 2015 that was the case.

No I didn't bother with the grant, I didn't need the crush so it didn't make sense. Also for tams you need to complete a safety course, cost is 80 euro and lose a day's pay for the privilege. Take that away from 900 and it becomes less appealing.

I was 40%, understand that you can have an inspection so linear meters on grant paperwork, invoice and physical pen would need to line up
