How exactly do i get my Emergency Tax back?

I started working for the first time over 2 months ago. I am on the emergency tax and for a while i didnt know that i (apparently) have to apply somewhere online to get my emergency tax back.

So far i'm on the emergency tax for a bit more than 2 months. At the start i thought that the tax will just come back to me on it's own after 3 months (that's what one of my coworkers have told me at the beginning).

Recently i was curious about it and wanted to make sure so i asked my employer. I was told that i have to do it online but wasn't told where. I sent him a text but didn't get any answer.
I googled and found a website called "taxback.com" but when i chatted to a live consultant on the website he told me i'm not going to get it back now and that i have to wait until the year is over and they will give it back to me, unless i'd quit my job. Then i'd get it back straight away.

So.. might i ask.. what the f*?

I've got to say, it kind of hurts to see that most of my weekly wage is going down somewhere where i don't have access to it because it's "Emergency taxed". For how long are they going to be ripping it off my weekly wage? They're taking it for 2 months straight and i gotta say it's a pretty big sum of money taken from each and every wage, which makes it difficult for me to afford anything. How long will this continue? And when and how will i get it back?

Just ring the tax office (check your local one by entering your pps number into revenue.ie) with your employer registered number. Ask for a cumulative tax free certificate. It will be sent to them and you should get it back next payroll.

The taxback.com guy is talking nonsense. I mean it could work that way but there are easier ways

I have registered with the Revenue under this link https://www.ros.ie/myaccount-web/register.html?execution=e1s1 and now i'm waiting for them to send me my temporary password by post. So i guess after i get that password i will have to get my bosses registration number and put it in there?

Thanks for the help so far

Your bosses tax number should be on your pay slips

Honestly just ring or pop into them. The online option doesn't allow for a cumulative option
