Hollow core Vs Timber

Hi, I am trying to decide between Hollow Core on timber floors upstairs on my 2100 sq ft new build. My engineer seems to be firmly of the opinion that Hollow Core is the only way to go and I just wanted to see if anybody had and advice/opinions on either? Thanks.

Your engineer is right in my opinion.

Sound alone is enough of a reason but the difference in solidity is noticeable too.

Second that - Hollow core all the way

Hollow core all the way man, you will instantly regret it if you put timber joists in instead!

Dont know why this day and age youd consider wood over hollowcore,

I got hollowcore and precast stairs delivered for 4k, its a pretty obvious choice at that.

Ability to have block walls in any layout upstairs is another pro IMO.

What are your engineers specifying for wall makeup under the hollowcore?, looking at a few houses in the area some seem to be specifying block on the flat, others are happy with block on their side (talking about gable ends, I.e. Not the center of the house where two hollowcore beams meet, they tend to always be block on the flat)?

Ya, its block on its side at the gables and block on flat in the centre of the house where the hollow core beams meet.

    Hollow core
the unquantifiable peace of not hearing high heels / stompy feet upstairs should not be underestimated.
As well as block walls upstairs - did mean a hell of alot of additional chases for me through blockwork but so worth it now

got hollowcore floors delivered last week. Spent Saturday morning filling in the gaps with cement. Very happy with them so far!
