Hi, new to golf and not sure how to calculate the points I get when playing stableford! I have an 18 handicap and if I get a 6 on a par 4 how many points do I get??

    Off 18 you'll get 3 for a par.
2 for a bogey and 1 for double bogey.
Oh and I forgot 4 for a birdie.
    Good luck.

    1 point.
Went you're starting off, get someone else to mark, its confusing for the first while, but you'll pick it up in no time

18 handicap is the easiest! You have one shot on every hole so just deduct one shot from your gross (what you actually shot) and then calculate the points as 3 for net birdie, 2 for net par, 1 for net bogey.

Just remember to write down the correct stroke score first and foremost.

    Stableford points are:

    1 point for bogey
    2 for par
    3 for birdie etc.

Your handicap is applied based on the index of the hole. An 18 handicap is easy because you have a shot on each hole, so par on a par 4 is 5 shots, 4 shots on a par 3 etc.

If your handicap was 17, you'd have a shot on each hole except the hole that's index 18 (the easiest on the course). The index of each hole is on the score card, usually headed 'Index' or 'S.I.' (stroke index).
