Advice on Crewcab

Looking at buying a Amarok crewcab. Looking for advice regarding legalities insurance etc.

    I'm private limited company.

Vehicle will mainly be used for getting to and from work. Sometimes for travelling for work. Sometimes for personal use although rarely.

    Presume I can tax commercially?
Is there any issue with insurance?

The private use will be a grey area regarding insurance.
Commercial insurance "usually" doesn't include any option for social and domestic use.

most commercial insurance comes with social and domestic.
If the company is owning the vehicle then BIK may be an issue.

Talk to your accountant about that aspect, but from a road legality point of view its fine and you will get the commercial tax.

Solid advice from Eric, as BIK or VAT reclaim are the main thing for you. Also tax office may request proof of employees for crew cab..

As for s,d&p use, then it's on commercial insurance policies as said. You will get the 'never use for personal use' answers here, and by the letter of the law that is technically correct. However in the real world AGS have repeatedly shown they are not concerned with personal use such as this, as it is often unavoidable.

How does it work if you want to have a crew Cab for personal use? just because you want the extra space, is it much more expensive to tax/insure as personal?

You need to reclassify the vehicle as private and then pay private tax on it at the pre 2008 cc rates. Did this with an iveco truck laughably enough as it was in private use with a voluntary group (no VAT or charity number).

As for insurance, I was informed that I had to take a commercial insurance policy on it as it is a commercial vehicle regardless. It includes s,d&p on the policy
