First, have a quality radio not some cheap small radio, usually, old radios are best.

Here's my Sanyo Transworld fromt he 1970's. It's needs some polishing, it looks amazing when polished.

The Tecsun-AN200 Loop. Works best with larger radios with big ferrite rods. It makes barely audible stations audible. It's amazing. It works better during the day time to pick up weak stations that are otherwise much stronger at night but it cal and does also help Null out RFI ( radio frequency interference ) from laptop power supplies, mobile power supplies, LCD TV, LED Lights, Dimmer switches, etc etc and it doesn't work miracles , if there's too much RFI then you need to address the source , first, knock off the power to the house and see does it make a difference and start from there.

    Here's the Loop.

Here's the Loop positioned at the radio where it works best. You have to rotate it to the strongest signal and also rotate the radio.

    Inside of the radio.

And the Sanyo Transworld in all it's glory. Not mine.....

I think this is an impressive radio , it looks fantastic and makes all the crap today look horrible, LW, MW, FM performance is excellent and Shortwave is pretty good though sometimes difficult to tune but luckily has a fine tune function, some radios have 4 or 5 SW bands for easier tuning but it does have a separate 49 Meter band for much easier tuning on this particular band. It does pick up strong imaged on SW 2 from RNG on FM throughout the SW 2 band but it's not a big problem.
