    Hi All,

    Sorry i haven't a clue about plumbing:(
Anyway we are currently renovating our house at the minute and a friend of mine is doing the re-wiring, he was up last week and stripped out most of all the old wiring so there is not electricity getting to the hot water tank, we will be getting a small bit of building work done in the next month and he will also be re-wiring at the same time, what i'm concerned about is the water sitting in the hot water tank as there is no electricity going to it and the risk of legionnaire's? should i turn the water off at the stopcock and run the hot tap until the system is drained?

    Any help would be appreciated!

That won't drain the cylinder. Just make sure your attic tank is insulated top and sides (not underneath), when the work is completed then run all hot taps for 20 mins. Open a few windows to let out steam.
