Cartell/NMR check anomaly

    Hi,

Hoping someone can help me, not sure what to do here.

I've seen a car at the weekend and I really like it. I decided to do a cartell report on it, and it came up with a warning on mileage. So I popped Cartell an email (this was Saturday, knew they wouldn't be open). They rang me this morning, and the lady says it's recorded as having 124k miles in 2015 and 135k miles in 2016. It's got 134k kilometres on it now.

So I've been texting him back and over. He says the service book he has shows it was serviced in 2009 at 15k kms, 2nd inspection at 38k kms, another inspection at 95k kms in 2012. He says he has an NCT cert from test in April last year which shows 122k kms. He tried ringing the original dealer where the car was bought in 2008 but they don't deal in those makes anymore, but said it could have been kms added as miles.

I'm wondering what to do? Is there a best way to prove the mileage is genuine? Can you ring the NCT centre to confirm the document and mileage at that time? But it could have been clocked before that, right? Even if I prove it right is the NMR report always going to show an issue (i.e. when I sell on again). Or are there too many anomolies here and I should walk away?

There have been cases where NCT fecked up and showed kms instead of miles on the report. Either way though is there no paper trail of receipts for servicing to back up the mileage?

He has some receipts, but not all. I was chatting to him a short while ago and he is pursuing everything at the moment to rectify things. I'm hopeful now that it can all be sorted.
