    hello
am just curious here and need some options from people. my brother is getting a jeep, this jeep has more than 380,000 miles on it. dose anyone know if this particular jeep would last more than a year without breaking down due to the high miles or is there anything he can do without wasting money. thanks

No one can give you an answer to that as we don't know anything about this jeep. A make and model would be helpful though as we might be able to tell you of common problems and things to look out for.

the 2.5 isn't a v6, its gear driven so no worries about chains, belts or any other craic. Pretty reliable beast but as always do checks. At that point it should definitely have had a water pump change and probably an alternator too. Provided it has a full service history and everything is done then you might be grand, everything made of rubber should have been replaced at this point, it would have long since perished otherwise.

At that mileage if its an automatic, i'd get the filter and fluid changed, make sure all the electrics work and check to see if theres a whine when you turn on the aircon.

Those jeeps go pretty cheap so if it was only saving <1000 over one with 100k miles on it i'd spend the money on a lower miles one. I'd imagine the steering wheel and drivers seat are manky at this stage in that one.

That's an inline 5 not a v6 and was, I think, regarded as unrefined when it was launched not to mind having travelled 10 times around the world. It's not a mainstream model which would impact on 2nd hand spares availability.

Is he paying much for it? At that kind of mileage it would want to be very cheap if not free as I'd say the market for a car that age and with that mileage is zero.

Sell it now to north Korea.. It's obviously a ticking time bomb.

    Or just keep driving.

    Either Or

So, "High mileage on a Volkswagen" as opposed to "High mileage on a Jeep"
