US prepaid card that can be loaded online?

I want to buy some stuff from a US based site, but unfortunately they'll only accept an order from a US credit or debit card (they have a different number sequence).

I was thinking I could sign up for one through address pal but I want one which can be loaded online rather than in a physical store.

Bonus points if it's Apple Pay compatible too!

    Any suggestions?

if you can get this set up and sent to a US address it might work

    https://revolut.com/

A simple app that lets you top up via debit/credit/bank transfer, and exchange currencies for free for the best rate and top up your self in a few clicks. You can even send money from accounts across the globe for free. You can also get a physical card for everyday/holiday use but you get the digital card for free for online stuff. They use mastercard.

Pretty useful app just to have and set up in general anyways... and I don't work for 'em just find it incredibly useful

Revolut does not allow US addresses. They will close the account if you try to change the address to a US address (due to the regulatory burden for US accounts).

Even if you get a revolut card, the new ones from wirecard are coded as UK so any US provider that tries to restrict their cards to US only (which some do), will not allow that as method.

There are some providers out there but they are really expensive and not easy to set up / use.

usunlocked is such a card, but it's every expensive, set up fees (15$), monthly maintenance fee (3.50$) , load fees (3% and up) and spending fees each time you use it (0.50$). For those who are desperate to get one to use it this is the only still existing option.

Other option usually go away after a while due to the Patriots Fools Act which make opening accounts for foreigners a real heavy issue.

Have revolut already (thanks anyway al) & was aware of the regulatory issues. It wouldnt work anyway as the problem is every country has a different code which is in the 16 digit number & who I want to buy from will only sell to a US card.

I did find one which seemed ideal - https://www.simple.com but unfortunately they need a US cell phone to attach to & validate. It even has apple pay & no monthly fees.

Simple clearly states in their FAQ and T&C that they do not allow overseas accounts.

You are going to find that most US providers won't set up an account if you don't have a US address, US Phone number and Social Security Number (or ITN) because the Patriots Fools act that requires them to validate that you are you (like our money laundering law's).

There are some US Reshippers out there that will buy goods on your behalf (you pay them with wire transfer or paypal) if you use their shipping address and services (myus for example).
