Run down or possibly abandoned houses

    Hi,

I live in east Cork and there seems to be a good few run down or abandoned buildings.

Seems that many may have been family homes where children moved away or built elsewhere and have just been let lie after the parents have passed.

Has anyone experience in inquiring as to whether the owners of these houses might be willing to sell?
How do you find who owns a particular house?

I'm looking for something nice and small to fix up.

My parents did this. They knocked on neighbours doors to track down the owner. In a lot of places they knocked the owner was a relative of the owner or owned the house.
