Bro and I popped into this after a weekend camping. I was a bit wrecked by the time we had arrived, it was packed and my wide angle lens was acting up..so I didn't take many pics and they're a bit glare-y, so apologies. Please though add your pics from today if you have any.

The owner of this Mini is standing just out of shot. I had to laugh when I heard him say to someone "it looks a lot worse than it is" :pac:

I thought the placement of this club's signage could have been better. I like to be able to see a car's plate.

Great show and a cracking day for it.

My only gripe was the cost. Entry was €25 for myself and 3 kids under 9, but then I got stung for another ridiculous €15 for a very poor kids area. (Anyone with kids that size knows it's physically impossible to walk past bouncy castles - especially when it's the carrot on a stick for hours of looking at old cars...)

That's before food etc. TBH I think I'll be visiting solo in future.

On the plus side I was there when they fired this beast up. What a noise!

I have to agree about the cost. It cost us €30 for two adults. While it's a good show (best in Leinster???) it will make me hesitate (a little) about attending again. I say this as somebody who has attended almost every year since the show first started.

I know many will argue that €15 for a full days entertainment (if you wished to stay a full day) is still good value. However, I feel they should have made the increase to no more than €12 per adult this year. My 2c.

Agreed regarding price of entry, €25 for myself and two daughters is ridiculous. It's a good show but seem to remember more visitors years ago when I showed cars and it was cheaper to enter.
The BTCC Jag V12 was amazing when it was started.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,348 ✭✭✭w124man

I heard a few people complaining about the entry price of €15 a head. My gripe was that there wasn't enough food stalls - plenty of crap to eat but nothing decent without a queue.

    Great show as usual

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,060 ✭✭✭Sexual Chocolate

Wasnt too surprised at the entry fee. Most shows have gone up the last few years. Was worth it if your into your cars. I feel sorry those who had to bring kids with them though.

I think it would be fair to say that Mercedes had the biggest presence there saw a couple of 190E Cosworths, first time seeing a dog leg box :)

Thought the fire trucks were a nice touch as was the old Thames Vally Police Omega V6.

The cleanest car I thought was the old 91 (?) Blue Vectra in terms of an average bog standard car. Sort of reminded me of the old blue garda cars. Think it had less then 3k on the clock.

Didnt get many photos, Im not really one for walking around with my phone in my hand.

The Quattro was a car that I fell in love with years ago after seeing Ashes to Ashes, also my first time to see one in red.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,079 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

The blue Vectra had 1100 miles on the clock. It was a stunner, in terms of originality etc.

Also loved the old Omega..I'd say it most definitely appeared on a few episodes of "Road Wars" back in the day

I saw 1100 alright but wasnt too sure if it was the trip mileage or over all. Thought I saw 2*** underneath but didn't properly look at which was which :)

A few Spitfire pics from the TCOC stand and a few non club Spits. The Triumph club were kind enough to let me bunk with them even though I'm not a member, mine is the green(ish) one with the bonnet open. Anyone get to have a look at it?

Regarding the price, well, whats €20 to display your car (I had a passenger) when you get a lovely plate, hah. Food was expensive enough, I did find too that although there were bins in the eating are they could have done with a few more in and around the displays...

I got to have a look around your Spitfire alright. Nice job! Toyota engine I think? It was unusual to see a Spitfire in Valencia. You'd associate that colour with the Triumph saloons, like my own 2000. Who painted it?

Thats the one yeah, Toyota 4EFE engine. Valencia was only used on Spitfires between '69 and '71, so you might see a few Mk3's, but very few Mk4's. Despite all the mods I did to the car, as its original color was indeed valencia blue, I decided to go back to that. I did the paint work myself in a polytunnel with a small aldi compressor and half decent LVLP gun :)

@spitfire 1V, Ah bugger, so that's where you were..had been looking out for your car. I was on the TCOC stand and got into a conversation about electric power steering on the TR8 and was wheeled over to the TR register stand to be shown one fitted and never got back to see the Spitfires.. Next year or somewhere in between so..

Great show though I'd echo the point about needing more bins next year. The ticket price seems a bit steep at €15 a head. It was the same price for our family ticket as for two adults!

We got there around 11 and were there until shortly before 4 though so if you compare it to the cinema, it's good value for money. I think we saw everything (unless there were some particularly late arrivals or early departures).

I think it would be fair to say that Mercedes had the biggest presence there saw a couple of 190E Cosworths, first time seeing a dog leg box :)

We've had ~66 cars on the Mercedes-Benz Club stand. A lot of W201 (this year's theme), a good few W126 and R107, two W116 (the gold 450SE was mine), an Adenauer and a good few others across the years and model ranges. I don't particularly like the spot the club has chosen two years running now, as it's off to the side, on a hill and fewer people venture there, but "meh".

All in all a very good turn out in the entire show, from club and non-affiliated owners alike. There were definitely more cars this year, and a better selection too. The only sad thing was to see a lot of them in quite poor state of maintenance. I'd be the last to judge, as people's circumstances vary, but some owners weren't even bothered to wash their car, and that's just daft :)
