So, we're in need of a good Hoover and I'd love some recommendations for the best pet one about.

We have two husky crosses so it needs to be something up for the task of dealing with husky hair! We've carpet, tile, lino and laminate floors around the house.

    Cheers

Just bought this week a VAX Power 3 pet. Its got such powerful suction, I have to have the 'valve' at the top of the handle open all the time  The suction is so high, I find it hard to 'push' on carpets, and seem to 'pull' only... incredible amount of hair/dust/dander being collected. Bagless which was my no.1 requirement. Im very tall so find the handle a little bit short.

Just retired the BISSELL clearview power pet. It was never good. In fact its pretty mediocre.

Miele all the way. I do have a cordless Hoover that I use for a quick clean up but the Miele beats it hands down

Thanks everyone! We've a Vax already, although I don't know the model. It was up to the task till lately, but not sure about going back to a Vax again for the simple reason we only have it about 3 years if even. I know we're hard on Hoover's because of the hair, especially in the carpeted area, but I would have expected to get a bit longer out of it at the same time.
I'll have a look at the meile as well.

Slightly OT but if it's broken have you contacted vax? I think they have a 5 year warranty on some products.

A friend of mine was just sent out a brand new one when hers broke after 3 years.

Don't let the bags put you off - they're always on offer on amazon. I got a few boxes of them last year and we still have loads - don't think I'll be buying any this year! Also I haven't noticed any difference between the hepa and pet filters.. When I was buying the vacuum the allergy/complete one was on offer and came with a head for wooden floors for the same price as the pet vac.

Well... It's not exactly broken. It still works but the suction is a bit temperamental. It's just not as strong as it was. In most cases it wouldn't be an issue, it's just husky hair and carpet don't make a good mix.

I never even thought of looking up about the warranty. I will have a look though and see what they will/won't cover etc.

I was considering a bagless , cordless Hoover, but I'm open to any good Hoover that can handle a heavy dog hair load.

The carpet is my biggest issue because I can't sweep it. If I don't get to Hoover for a few days i can sweep the heavier stuff up quickly before giving the room a Hoover in the rooms that have the tile/laminate floor.

I picked a Hoover Freedom cordless up for €100 a few months ago. It's grand for a quick tidy up but I still do a 'deep clean' at the weekend with the Miele and steam mop. We have wooden floors and mats down so the dogs don't slip etc and only have carpet on the stairs and landing. The Hoover is grand for all that but I'd drive me insane with carpet having to empty it. I was bold last week and didn't use the Hoover every other day... well when I did a quick clean yesterday I had to empty it 3 times!

Aw stop I know, its crazy how quickly it builds up. One of the dogs is a rescue so while he looks like full Siberian we don't know for sure, but he's started blowing his coat again because of the heat a couple weeks ago. I really need to give him a thorough brushing today if I get a chance. I reckon between both dogs we have a shedding dog here for about 7 months of the year because they never shed at the same time! That would be just too convenient for me! Thankful the other dog, while a husky cross, isn't too bad and sheds quite quickly.

Make sure whatever you get has a turbo head and it's easy to remove the roller thing to cut off the hair. I watched videos on YouTube to decide what to get - sad I know lol! :p I saw one of my neighbours with a screwdriver and Miele bag on morning trying to get fur out to reuse the bag lol!

Na that's they way to do it. Get as much info as possible, especially if your spending a few bob on it. We have one of those turbo heads as an attachment, but it's small. It's grand for the couch etc, but not for the hall.

Oh jez! Haha! That is one advantage of the bagless Hoover's, but they can be a pain to empty at times!
