    Hi folks,

I received a summons for jury duty about 3 weeks ago, and I replied asking for an exemption 2 weeks ago.

I thought I'd have received a reply one way or another by now. I emailed them asking about how/when the decision/notification would happen, but no reply.

Can anybody fill me in on what normally happens regarding notification of the decision in cases where an exemption has been requested?

    Thanks in advance.

Ok, so you got a letter, good.

    How long did it take?

    Over 2 weeks at least.

I sent my exemption on the 19th June and got the approval letter on the 26th or 27th. It was summons for the 5th July. I was late sending it in as it was sent to an old address. So maybe if your jury date is farther away they may take their time.

Remember that things will vary from office to office.

You can ring the office, phone number is on the summons you got;)

Thanks for the replies, I sent off the request pretty quickly and the court date is July 11th so maybe there's nothing out of the ordinary.

I called the court (maybe not the number on the summons as I had to send the summons back) but the person in charge wasn't there. I gave my number but never got a call back.

    I'll call again on Monday.

Just a quick update...got my letter of exemption on the Thursday before the Tuesday on the summons.

I've been called 3 times now, and each time I simply rang them telling them why I couldn't do it (going on holidays, breastfeeding and something else I can't remember), they have always just excused me over the phone.
