Two months ago, I viewed a one-bed apartment for $750/month. It's part of the culture here and it's expected that there'd be some negotiation.. I've rented about five other places here and it's just how it's done.

Anyways, he wouldn't move on the price. So I offered 6 months rent + deposit up front. He still wouldn't negotiate even though 6 months will often get $100/month of the price.

I really liked the place so he had won the negotiation. Then comes the stupidest thing ever. An extra $5/month for water. I hmmm and haaa looking around and feel like a used twat but say Ok.

Then he's like "No, each. Because there are two. $10." In a bit of shock and 100% not going to stay there, I say "If I pay you six months rent and deposit now, can we pay $5?" and he says "No. $10."

Absolute spanner. I'm offering this idiot $5,280 on the spot for an apartment that costs like twice the average wage here.. But he wanted that extra $5/month because there's two of us.

I just saw it advertised again. He has missed out on $1,500 of rent since then and it made my day seeing it.

    What's your story?

Didn't buy bitcoin back when it was $0:08 in July 2010 I'd be a millionaire now if I had invested $80.

I went digging and found an old empty bitcoin folder on my old laptop.. Ran various file recovery software but couldn't find anything. I know I mined a bit years ago when I didn't really know what it was or what I was doing :(

Don't beat yourself up though. You'd have sold at a $1, or $10 and definitely at $100.

Why is an apartment in Vietnam more expensive than in the south of France?

Why is an apartment in Vietnam more expensive than in the south of France?

A shortage of Western-style apartments with good parking along with the fact that this one was really nice. Way nicer than you'd get for the same money in France I assume.

I imagine it's still empty because of his attitude. You should never move in somewhere if you think the landlord is too tight to fix something. This guy definitely came across like that. I'm kind of lucky I guess.
