    Hi,

Mother died nearly two years ago and have been going through probate since.

An issue that we are having is my mother was divorced in northern ireland but we don't have the papers. Have contacted the NI courts and they cannot find then papers or 'decree'

Mother has been separated from the man since before I was born. 20+ years ago. What is our next move? Is there a mechanism for continuing without them? Will we have to find him?

    Thanks

Is there any possibility that the divorce was not granted in N.I. but perhaps elsewhere in the U.K. ?

Is there anything in your late mother's papers to identify any solicitor who might have acted for her in the divorce ?

Do any family members remember who the solicitor might have been ?

It is not always easy in family matters but an approach to the divorced husband for the relevant information might be necessary.

    Best of luck with it.

    Thanks for the reply.

No unfortuantely there was no mention of a solicitor who acted for her in the divorce.

Family members dont know as it took place outside the state.

Yes, tbh approaching him wouldnt be my issue its just finding him that would be. All we have is a name which leaves little to work from.

There must be a marriage cert with details of his name and his occupation. Find out where the marriage took place and who the witnesses were. that may lead to some relatives.
