I have Evans Halshaw in mind to visit in two weeks time. Can anyone recommend other used dealers in the area.

Not sure if it will answer your question but worth mentioning anyway with relevance to Evans Halshaw. Went over to Preston (40 min train journey from Manchester airport) and bought a Kuga from Evans Halshaw in Preston with a colleague about a month ago and found them decent to deal with. My colleague watched the price of the car for about 2 weeks before finally securing it with a deposit. The price dropped a bit in that 2 week period so they would not budge on the asking price but he did manage to get them to waiver the credit card fee which was about £300 so it was the same thing. Flew into Manchester that morning and got the train up to Preston, got something to eat and then walked less than 1/2 mile to their garage from Preston station.

Took the car for an extensive test drive down the nearby dual carriageway, had a good poke around it, found one of two small cosmetic things which they rectified while we waited. Had an issue alright paying for a month's motor tax as the system did not recognize an Irish banks account (you can only pay a month's tax by bank transfer strangely) so had to pay for 6 months by card ~ £60 so not the end of the world). The car came with no mats so they fitted a new set and filled it with £30 worth of diesel. Were on the road for 5.00pm and had 30 mins to spare when we reached Hollyhead for the 8.30pm ferry to Dublin. Car was in excellent condition as portrayed in the photos initially requested and the asking price was the cheapest within around a 40 mile radius.

So if your willing to get the train Preston is worth adding as an option.

Used these a few years ago when I bought a car in Manchester, I had no problems, they were great to deal with. They didn't have a lot of experience of selling cars for export here but wasn't really an issue...

Go on Autotrader and put in the postcode of the dealer you are travelling to, you can then select the distance from that dealer to bring car listings from.
