Cross border travel with ftp

Can I travel on a day trip to Belfast from Dublin by train and return by bus or vice-versa?

Or must I use the same mode of travel in each direction by buying a day return ticket in Dublin?

Do bus or train operators in Belfast actually issue one way tickets to Republic ftp holders for cross border journeys?

You can get the train from connolly station to Belfast central and the ulster bus/gold line or Bus Eireann service from the Europa Bus Depot, as far as I am aware you can't use the ftp on Aircoach. You can alternate between the two modes of travel, I have done so myself a number of times.

Yeh the FTP is not available on that Aircoach route.

You will get a single ticket in Belfast as long as your journey is ending in the republic. For journeys within northern Ireland there is a senior smartpass you can apply for in your local intreo. Probably only available for over 65/66
