Query insurance renewal and existing problems

My dogs were insured for years with a specific company, they decided not to offer pet Insurance in Ireland and they transferred me to another company.

I got my renewal today, and it turns out my current insurance company have transferred the renewal to yet another company.

Over all the years having insurance, I never made a claim, just paid by direct debit every month.

but now the middle dog turned 8 last November, his insurance has doubled, whilst the other dog is roughly the same.

I had the middle dog to the vet recently, and the vet found a problem with him, that in time will need operations.

Do I contact my current dog insurance and tell them? How does it work as I've never had to contact them, except when one dog died to take her off the policy.

    Any advice would be appreciated,

But it seems the new dog insurance is up in about 20 days, and the company taking over are one that we left years ago,

I don't think I can change now Sammy is 8, but the new company are using the opportunity to screw us, we had a 13 year old Greyhound and her insurance was nothing like Sammy who is a mix breed.

How much was it last year and how much has it gone up? A few people have had the same problem lately and got a better price after calling them. I wouldn't mention anything that's one up since you renewed last time - it's happened while he was insured so should be covered imo

Lucy's (4) renewal came and was up €60 this week... Bailey's won't be here until August and he'll be 8 by then and that's the one I'm worried about(!) I don't think I'd have the nerve to try and haggle his - it went down €100 last year so I'm expecting it to go up by that - at least(!)

My girl turned 8 this year, no increase to her premium this year to last year - been with the same insurer for a number of years now.

She had an op in 2014 and although they claim their policy does not increase on claims, low and behold it did, not by much but all the same, it was annoying and when i queried it, they said it was standard industry increases.

She had further issues this year after her policy was renewed so another claim just gone in so i'll expect next years to increase again!!
