    hi

Simple question that I do not know the answer to:

Croatian lad started work in March 2017(1st job in Ireland) when he started he explained he needed a an operation on his knee in the near future.

He has an operation on Monday so 9 weeks of paying tax etc:

He is out of work for 2 months I have every intention of keeping him on after that but: has he enough "stamps" for either the dole or disability?

No, he would need to have been employed for at least 2 years.

After a little research I have found that if he was employed in his own country before he came to Ireland, then he may be able to combine his social insurance contributions from his own country with his Irish contributions and may be able to claim Illness Benefit here.. Check out citizensinformation.ie and search for Illness Benefit.
