Frank and Honest - New Coffee place off Temple Bar

Just spotted that new black shop along the quays just by temple bar. What do we all reckon? Is it worth a visit price and taste wise? Still forever looking for a decent haunt that is not within the Starbucks category of pomp so the name has me intrigued.

Wondering if in complete opposition to Starbucks they tell you that they don't care what your name is and that you could really stand to loose a few pounds so a frappe might not be the wisest move. Sigh... I digress on a Friday, but would love to hear some honest opinions from anyone who has been + guidance towards the most decent place near the city centre. I am a fan of Accents :-)

If you think I'm trekking all the way up to that Dublin for a cup of fucking coffee, you've got another think coming.

All the centra stores only serve that coffee now. It's grand bit expensive for supermarket coffee

Oh wait so it's not an actual new  cafe? * insert disappointing face here

lucky its opening, fierce lack of choice of places to get a coffee in Dublin

Why thank you for this frank and honest insight there is most definitely not enough coffee places in Dublin - I need one every second or third meter :pac:

The more independent coffee shops that open up the better.

The likes of Costa and Starbucks wouldn't be to my taste, they think they're doing you a favour by serving up a massive cup of coffee when all they're doing is diluting the coffee into something that resembles tea.

Frank and Honest is owned by Musgrave, a large entity in themselves who operate SuperValu and Centra brands. It's most definitely not an independent unfortunately.

It's a bit more expensive but far superior to the poisonous muck served up in most convenience chain shops (Bewleys, Insomnia, etc.)

Surely Insomnia is the worst as they just serve coffee far too hot.

Coffee should never be made with boiling water.

It's a bit of seating in a Centra.

The Rolling Donut on Bachelors walk do a far better coffee

Cheers for the heads up, another one off the list.

I enjoy a cup of coffee most days. To be honest the coffee from all these places tastes the exact same to me. Even the instant coffee tastes the same.

I often dream about being one of those people who can taste every little difference in the coffees from various stores etc, It'd make drinking coffee a lot more exciting.

Those people don't exist , other than in the land where well done steaks are the devils food, and wine bought in a supermarket will have you poisoned by 4.00pm.

Nothing beats Coffee Angel on Sth Anne St.

Drink it as you have a stroll in Stephen's Green.

There's no need to hurry. There's no need to worry.

Yep I just noticed this week one opened up in Gay Centra.

One also opened in Supervalu Talbot a few weeks ago, so taking tips on expansion from Starbucks.

I was a big fan of the Bald Barista before it moved out of Avalon House.

No nonsense, none of your fancy stuff; just the best coffee in Dublin in a nice, relaxed atmosphere.

I can't warm to their 'new' location on Aungier Street at all, with its small seating area where you immediately feel pressure to leave and make space for the next customer.

And Avalon House houses a Starbucks now:(
