    I'm actually facing the same conundrum.

    Cavity blocks... can't anchor shelf brackets in thin air!! I'm thinking that standalone shelving is the only safe option.

    Could you go through the wall fully? It would be easier but mightn't suit the other side. They're a hateful thing them 9" hollows.

    Seen a crowd from ROS at the ploughing with a standalone racking where you can add as many bays at later stages, max 450kg per shelf, though €110 starter bay & €100/bay after that.
    Intend putting this up in garage (whenever I've a few quid)

    Only job for fixing to cavity walls is to bore a hole right through and fix them with threaded rod. Wasting your time with anything else.

    Best job is a few lengths of angle running vertically down the wall at 6' or so centres bolted as above. Weld angle coming off these vertical pieces for your timber shelves to bolt to.
