    Hi
I have a old 50s style gm fridge and when I turn it on i can hear the compressor kicking in then runs for a sec and clicks then. Just wondering is it a big deal to get out running or can you change get someone to change the compressor?

    Thanks

Sounds as though the run windings are gone but it could also be the starting relay, if you can determine which is at fault replace the faulty unit that is if you still want to keep the unit in working condition. if it needs a compressor change it may be a 110 volt unit as it is a Yank it probably is charged with r12 refrigerant which is obsolete but it is fixable, pm me if you still want to repair it
