Left Ireland, still resident?

    If someone leaves Ireland, they still remain resident for tax for a number of years, so called being ordinarily resident?

    What does this mean for someone who has left the country? Is this some sort of leaving town tax?

    Also a person who is non resident, can have an address in Ireland? An address such as a parents for post etc?

    it's not really a leaving town tax, it really on.y comes into effect where you might leave temporarily and return. Say you leave Ireland for 8 months, to go working in the UK. You'd be taxed on the UK income in the UK. However, as you are resident in Ireland for tax purposes, you are correctly taxable on that income here. So, the Irish rates of tax are applied to that income, and you are given a credit for UK tax suffered.

    You can have a forwarding address, no problem
