Just wondering do you need to be employed to get this with Argos or can you get it on Social Welfare? I don't see anything on their website that says you need to be employed but just wondering from anyone's experience ?

    Thanks for the help

You need to pass a credit check that you are unlikely to pass without full time employment or possibly a pension and no housing costs if the item is very cheap

Credit check is probably only based on what you tell them though.

Your income amount will give it away quite fast as will the lack of payslips and the weekly payment into the bank account from the state or total lack of any payment if it's collected!

Was told before by their staff that they dont provide the service to those on social assistance payments. They also look for pay slips.

Not listed in the items you need when you apply for Buy Now pay later.

But as said before when you complete the form they will probably decline it as you are unemployed.

My Father got a laptop on the scheme and he's on Social Welfare Disability

Disability would probably be classed as different to unemployed, not in work vs unable to work

Possibly. Still a S.W payment. So I guess it depends on the payment rather than all SW payments etc.

22.9% APR. Youd be better asking for a credit union loan

You are only charged extra If you don't pay in full within 6 months, it's handy to use the free finance like with Argos, great if you pay within the agreed time with no interest, once you go over the they change very high interest.

Disability and carers allowance are treated differently to standard unemployment social welfare benefits, it's possible to get car loans etc from the bank with these whereas with 'unemployed' benefits it's not.

As you said it's seen as unable to work rather than not working.
