    Evening all...
Has anybody on here sent and heifers or bullocks to the factory through the scheme,if so did they come into much...also I'm not sure the scale of cover the traditional breed would need to finish..
I have about 25 mix of heifers and steers coming of age in the nxt 2/3 months but I don't want to start to pump them with meals yet...I'd say a rough guess they be up around 600kg ish/650kg give or take...what kind of kill out would the traditional breed come into...any one experienced finishing these type before (Angus Hereford)..??

If they are hitting 30 months in next 2-3months I would be feeding them now. Prices will drop fast from August on as 30 month cattle are forced out. I be feeding to kill in August. I would treat now wiyh an ivernmectin pour on 28 day withdrawal and feed 3 kgs of a barley/maize/soyahulls mix, keep on good grass and be killing as they are coming fit. No point in holding cattle such as them. HE 650kgs putting on another 40kgs will kill 350 ish kgs.

HE and QA bonus is 22c/kg at a base of 3.9/kg(for steers) and grading O+/= means you average price/kg will be 3.97/kg with an average K?O of 340 they will be averaging 1350 euro. Heifers averaging O= killing 320kgs with a base of 4/kg will give an average price of 4.04/kg with QA and HE bonus added could come into 1300 euro.

Bonus is only on prime cattle Heifers and steers grading O= or better under 30 months. Some processors pay up to 36 minths and pay down to O-. There is a cut off weight of 380kgs and a min weight of 280kgs. Your animal has to qualify for the QA as well
