Hyundai Tucson

    The father has a Hyundai Tucson 2007 2.0 diesel the turbo went about 35k km ago and was done but I think it may be gone agiain it has only had one oil service since and that was 2k ago.
    It has no power in forward gears but has good power in reverse It has thrown up 4 faults
    P0473 intermittent
    P0299 this one is permanent
    P1405 intermittent
    P2002 intermittent
    There is a smell of oil sometimes and it started to put out white smoke today.
    It has also been burning oil with the past 2-3 months
    Please don't lecture me on the importance of serving I know all about it I do my car every 10k km

    Is the oil light flickering? Or did it flicker prior to failure?

    I only ask because this is exactly what happened to my old Tucson. Oil light flickered briefly, stopped the car, mechanic told me start and it see if it is driving then I got all the symptoms you described. I just got rid of the car after that, it was starting to brake my melt. The guy who purchased it put a new turbo and oil pump into it, fixed it for around 100km and then he ended up putting a new engine in.
