    Hi guys,

I'm looking at buying a car from Shane Connolly car sales in Donegal. His stock seems to be ex U.K. Lease cars. Which site would be best to use to do a check on it for finance, mileage, claims etc?

    Thanks

Ask the seller first for the LINK to the Motorcheck/cartell report.

Thanks for that, Would that be enough or would I be better off paying to have my own report done elsewhere?

Once you are happy with what you get, pay for it yourself and compare. But no point in spending money if you potencially can cross the car out for free.

I've mostly found motorcheck.ie to have more mileage readings on the 7 uk cars I've bought over the years. I think they all have the same finance and write off info but not the same mileage readings.

Ask dealer to do a check for you and if you're still not happy do your own. Email motorcheck and they'll give you a discount code, always worked for me

    https://hpicheck.com/support/faqs/guarantee

You won't find that on cartell or similar.

Won't apply in this case as a dealer won't be the registered keeper on thev5c..... this applies to uk private buyer buying from a uk private seller and all history check companies i the uk are required to offer this guarantee by law or trading standards as car data is more accessible than it is in Ireland.

Dealer is never the registered keeper on the V5C surely?

If it is a demo car, they are. But not when they just trade it.
