Hi all, I have a 2007 Mazda 6 1.8 petrol and I have recently noticed that the temperature gauge does be down at nearly cold most of the time. I drove from Dublin to Galway a few days go and it was at almost cold the whole way which obviously isn't normal as the gauge would usually be halfway between hot and cold. However I have also noticed that when I stop in traffic or at the lights that the gauge will go from being at cold back up to half way where it should be and when I take off again it will go back down towards cold. It has never gone above halfway towards hot. Any ideas what's going on? Thanks

Your thermostat is stuck open by the sounds of it

Is that an easy fix or would I need to bring it to the garage?

It depends on your ability, have a look on Google and YouTube to see if there's any diy guides that give you an idea what's involved

    Thermostat.

Make sure to get one that opens at 82*, not the 90* as used in many Fords. Look for codes TI20082 (Behr, Mahle, Knecht), TH45182G1 (Gates) or TH714282J (Verner).

😂 true but the car is only worth a few hundred so I'd rather give it a go myself
